 Switch Academy - Learning Tricks at Mountain Creek

Switch Academy at Mountain Creek is the coolest concept. Drop-in freestyle lessons for learning tricks to use in the big terrain parks at South Peak or the beginner park at Vernon Peak.
Here Lauren takes a lesson with Mountain Creek Terrain Park Instructor and Ambassador Sal Good and attempts her first 180. By the end of the sesh she's done it backside, and switch, and the ollie is coming right along too. It's on the vid! Next stop, 360, and getting a little more air.
We interview Homer, Head of Operations at South Peak about Switch Academy and the Parks that currently have 57 features and are switched up every two weeks. And we catch some freestyle high fashion happening downstairs.

Friday night at Mountain Creek, and it's all about the dancing! First we meet Sal Good to talk about our lesson tomorrow at Switch Academy, then we meet his crew, TJ Santana, Jeff, Tory, and Cam. Next, we meet the Wayne Dancers, from Wayne, outdoors at the Vernon Base and dip into the Hex. And we share a cab, that's Cabriolet, our favorite ride.
Then down to the Granite Peak base where we share a SnowboardSecret or two. And we meet the very stoked Brian from Hoboken who has gotten the grab tonight and proclaims "it's Vermont quality snow" in Vernon, NJ. Now it's party time with Unexplained Bacon at the Kink Bar, at the South Peak Base Lodge.  Nashoba Freeride Series Rail Jam - January 16, 2010

Nashoba Valley Ski Reosrt raises them up and throws it down in the first of 3 terrain park events this season. Park Manager Keith Kreischer gives an update of this 3 rail feature event with mostly the local crew competing.Skiers Bobby Sullivan in the yellow pants and Tim do the misty flip. Sophie gives the 2 hand plant she worked on at snowboard camp a go on the rooftop box. We interview hard-working "out of towner" Nicholas Legere who competed in 2 rail jams in one day this season. And we catch up with 16 year-old Zach Normandin, Nashoba local who won 12th in slopestyle Open Class at USASA Nationals last season and has been interviewed by Trans World Snowboarding.
Then we visit Nashoba's Tubing Park, the largest one in New England. It even has an observation deck where parents not tubing can party to the music while their kids tube.

We visit Nashoba Valley Ski Area in Westford, MA, 25 miles west of Boston. The Outlook Restaurant is a wonderful surprise with its huge menu and fantastic view. Proprietor Alan Fletcher tells us about buying this rocky hill in 1964. After lunch we visit the terrain parks. Sunday Jan. 16, 2011 we hit up the Freeride Series Rail Jam and the biggest Tubing Park in New England, at Nashoba. Be sure to see our video of the Nashoba Rail Jam. We'll be back to Nashoba when the snow melts for Witch's Woods and the Sunset Tiki Bar by the lake.

Mountain Creek, Jan 8, 2011 - 2nd stop of the 8 stop national 3rd Rail Jam tour. In part 1 here we see lots of rail action, and meet Kevin Whitehead of Outkast Sports who tells us why this contest is so appealing to the local riders. There was a huge turnout of 150 snowboarders and skiers.
DJ Image of the Bum Squad tells us why Slacker.com radio is different from other radio stations. The Park Crew and Jib Lab specialist tell us what it took to build this rail setup. And Timmy Kempson. last year's winner and his Dad Grover Tim comment on the contest.

3rd Rail Jam by Under Armour made its 2nd stop of the 8 stop 2011 tour at Mountain Creek, Vernon, NJ on January 8 2011. 150 snowboarders and skiers entered this event which lasted for an unprecedented 4 hours of action and fun on the urban style rail setup created after intense hours of work by Jiblab and the Mountain Creek Park Crew. Sketchy D makes a cameo appearance on his home turf as a judge of the competition.
This video is the short reel, see the longer versions for the full interviews with Top DJ Image of the Bum Squad. Also in the longer version Kevin Whitehead of Outkast Sports in Vernon tells us why the kids flock to this rail jam. Jesse from Jiblab and the Park Crew guys tell us about the rail setup. Meet Danno and his hat hustle along with happy customers of Ugly Hat.
Meet: last year's winner and a local favorite Timmy Kempson and his Dad Grover Tim.Tom Weiss gives us a shout ot and a big smile.Meet the Hip Hop artist who has UFO as his a.k.a. and Split Personality, Rail warriors Cam, Chris and Chris all a little worse for wear and banged up from today's action and accidents. Thank goodness Chris Solimini was up and walking after his spectacular crash on the bus shelter that stopped the rail jam and had everyone praying for him and sending good energy. In the longer video he tells us why he thinks the accident happened and how it could have been avoided.
Raekwon performs as well as DJ Image, And NYCE and Reckless wrap up the late show.

The Superpipe at Bear Mountain, Killington, VT is being built before our eyes. Yesterday it wasn't even a halfpipe, just a little pile of snow. Today on January 2, 2011 the right wall is steep and taking shape.
Meanwhile, TWO new coffee places opened 3 weeks ago. One is the Vista View Deck, trailside on Great Eastern, and the other is Liquid Art on the Killington Road. We predict that both will be big winners!
