Lucy Walker - Director of Lucy Walker - Director of
Award-winning documentarian Lucy Walker's The Crash Reel follows the rise, fall and recovery of snowboarder Kevin Pearce. This in not just another action sports film. It is a deeply felt, fully realized telling of an inspirational human saga. Pearce was challenging Shaun White for dominance in the half pipe when he took a bad fall in the halkpipe - the technical name is "Face Plant". This is not an injury an athlete can come back from, but Pearce, with the support of family, friends and the entire snowboarding community, was able to redefine himself and move on with his life. The Crash Reel tells that story. Lauren Traub Teton interviewed Ms. Walker at HBO Headquarters in NY for RadxSports.com.

Kevin Pearce on The Crash Reel , interviewed by Lauren Teton at HBOKevin Pearce on The Crash Reel , interviewed by Lauren Teton at HBO
HBO's documentary "The Crash Reel" tells the story of snowboarder Kevin Pearce's horrific crash on a practice run in preparation for the 2010 Olympics and his struggle to recover from the Tramautic Brain Injury he suffered. This is a moving story of how family, friends and community come together to help a fallen star in great need, and how the wounded star adapts, changes his perspective on life and returns the favor. It's more than an action sports film. I give it 10 stars. Another RadXSports video with Lauren Teton from Snowboard Secrets doing the interview at the HBO Studios in New York. Kevin Pearce - The Crash Reel - Clips and Live Interview NYC July 11, 2013Kevin Pearce - The Crash Reel - Clips and Live Interview NYC July 11, 2013
The Crash Reel is a new documentary about pro-snowboarder Kevin Pearce, directed by Lucy Walker, and you will meet both of them in this clip, and see a couple of clips of the movie. "The Crash Reel" was the opening night movie at the 2012 Sundance Film Festival, and is killing it on the Film Festival Circuit. Shaun White, who was the man for Pearce to beat, (and Kevin did), shares commentary. The Pearce family appears and adds the love that keeps Kevin going through his 3 year and continuing rehabilitation from TBI - Traumatic Brain Injury. This movie is not to be missed, it brings the story of a snowboarder to the mainstream public, as well as to the snowboarders of the world. This video by Lauren Traub Teton, for SnowboardSecrets.TV.

We found that our favorite Giro helmet for snowboarding that we've been wearing for 10 years has passed its virtual expiration date, and needs replacing. Happily, many forward- thinking improvements have been made, and here, Kerry O'Flaherty, the NY Rep for Giro shows us the Sheer and Lure helmets. Finger slide air vents, plush lining, hairstyle micro-adjuster,and removable ear pads for warmth and protection are some of the modern new features.
We show a cool new Giro spherical lens by Carl Zeiss too.

Riglet Park Snowboard Lessons for Kids at Mount Snow - February 2013Riglet Park Snowboard Lessons for Kids at Mount Snow - February 2013

Riglet Park is Burton's new concept for teaching snowboarding to kids ages three to six. What's a "Riglet?" you may ask. It's a retractable reel that attaches to specially designed boards so that the rider can be pulled by the teacher. The boards are short, soft, and convex with raised edges and the idea is to start young kids off having fun from the first day, and learning snowboard basic skills in a tiny terrain park with a mini-pipe, sunken box, and limbo bar, at Moujnt Snow

Mount Snow Riglet Park Director Brennan Cofiell (who also has a law degree!) gives us a tour of the new Burton Riglet Park snowboard teaching area in February, 2013, and then we watch some Riglets in action.
